Can a non-resident open a personal bank account in the US?

It is possible but harder than for a company. Most banks want an ITIN or SSN, a US address and a branch visit, and several take non-residents only in their premium or international segments.

Can I open a US account remotely?

Fully remote opening is rare and a trip is usually needed. Some banks can start the process from abroad through their international arm if you are already a client elsewhere in the group.

What are the fees and minimum balance?

Non-residents commonly get a monthly fee that is waived above a certain average balance. Thresholds depend on the bank and the product, so compare before you choose.

Does the US report my account under CRS?

The US does not use CRS; it runs FATCA and exchanges data with a number of countries under its own agreements. Bank deposit interest paid to a non-resident is generally not taxed at source, but you must file a W-8BEN and stay compliant at home.
