Personal accounts: Argentina

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a bank account in Argentina?
Technically possible, in practice difficult - retail banks are built around residents with a DNI. A non-resident needs a CDI tax number and a local address, and even then many branches say no. It is far easier once you have residency.
Do I need a DNI to open an account in Argentina?
For most retail banks and local fintech apps, yes - a DNI or at least a tax identification number is required. Without one your options are limited and the terms are worse. Getting the tax number is a separate process with the tax authority.
Can I hold US dollars in an Argentine bank account?
Dollar accounts for individuals exist and are common. Access to buying currency and to transfers is state-regulated, though, and the rules are revised periodically. Check the regime in force before you count on free FX operations.
Does Argentina exchange account data under CRS?
Yes, Argentina takes part in the automatic exchange of financial information. Non-resident account data is reported to the holder's country of tax residence. An Argentine account solves nothing in terms of privacy.
